Alnwick Trail Half Marathon

Date / Time
Sunday, June 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m.
Length 13.10 miles (21.1 km)
Description
The half marathon offers a fantastic variety of trails that pass along the riverside, over bridges and through woods as you climb to reach the highest point of the route to enjoy the vistas over Northumberland After sharing the first 3 miles of the course with the 10km, as it meanders through the pastures of Hulne Park, passing the old Bothy and the ruins of Hulne Abbey that sit on the hill, you’ll head off for some amazing trails through Brizlee Woods and beyond where wildlife abounds including many species of bird, the red squirrel & deer. There’s some challenging climbs, but they are rewarded with stunning views over north Northumberland and towards the coast. At the highest elevation you’ll pass the gothic Brizlee Tower standing at 26m high, then it’s downhill all the way to the trail that will take you back along the riverside to the finish by the Castle. Although a challenging trail run that requires a higher level of fitness, this is a beautiful course not to be missed
