| Description |
Organised by the Cairngorm Runners, Race The Steam Train is a fantastic 4.5 mile trail race from Boat of Garten to Aviemore through the Speyside Way. This includes a ride on the famous Strathspey Steam Railway and a medal for finishers!
Much of the race, especially the second half, runs by the railway track... If you hear the train coming, you'd better sprint for the finish!
Last year the train was beaten by most of the runners due to a delay up the track... This driver won't want to lose the same way this year so it will be full throttle the whole way! Think you can beat the train?
Entries
These will be permitted on the day of the race until we reach our limit of 175. If possible, please register via Entry Central well before the event, so we can reduce the work that has to be done on race day!

Registration will take place between 8am and 10am on the morning of the race in Aviemore, at the Dalfaber industrial estate. The marker on the event map shows the exact location.

Health and Safety
Clear route maps will be posted at Registration. The route is well signposted, it is primarity on tracks, but some small sections may have occasional vehicles. The organisers are being assisted by a number of voluntary marshals. The safety of all is paramount and it is a condition of entry that competitors must follow the instructions of the marshals. All runners must enter emergency contact details on the back of their number.
Most of the tracks are good quality, hard packed trains, but there are some rough/rocky sections and there may also be muddy areas. Good shoes are recommened!
