Race Date - Sunday 6th Nov 2011 Managed in partnership with Anglian Water and the Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust, this internationally famous nature reserve provides one of the most important wildfowl sanctuaries in Great Britain. Regularly home to over 20,000 waterfowl, it is designated as a European Special Protection Area and also home to the fantastic bird of prey, the Osprey. This stunning location will be the setting for the Rutland Water Marathon, covering 26.2 miles along the designated trail route around the reservoir. Starting a few hundred metres from Normanton Church and taking in the Hambleton peninsula, this trail race has some of the most scenic and picturesque views of any race in the UK. Marshals will provide water at checkpoints every 2-3 miles. Toilet facilities are provided at Normanton south shore car park. Please note that car parks will require you to pay and display. Morning Start (Early-9.00am due to minimal amount of Daylight in November) Rutland Water Marathon competitors must be at least 18 years of age on the day of the race. T-shirt and medals to all finishers. Race is chip timed with timing matts being placed on peninsula to ensure runners complete two laps. Limited to 1000 runners Trophies to winners in following categories; Male / Female- overall winner Male / Female-40+ Male / Female-50+ Running Club Winners- (Each club member receives 1 point for every place they finish from the back of the race. So a club runner finishing 3rd out of 1000 runners will receive 997 points. Club with most points wins. Only recognised affiliated running clubs are eligible
