Description
Horseplay 12/03/2010 The ‘Horseplay’ name gives a clue as to the nature of the obstacles at this lovely pile on the Thames. The gun goes off and you bound across the lush show field and over the first fences and jumps – set up for the amusement of your supporters and fans. Then it’s into the woods, up and down rolling hills, through fields and over fences and jumps. With obstacles littering your path such as the Grand National, the Tote, Sleepy Hollow (Set in the exact place where the Hollywood blockbuster of the same name was filmed!), the Stables and the Steeplechase - you get the picture. Giddy Up. Here is the deal. We offer 2 distance choices over 10km or 5km and both runs feature some obstacles: Natural, man-made and equine! The Horseplay is designed for absolutely any reasonable solo runner to complete. The onus is on fun but this is also a serious challenge, involving off-road terrain. The Horseplay 10k (and a bit) Starting at dusk at 1730hrs, this is the one to go for if you want to achieve full nocturnal champion jockey status. Never before, has there been such a bizarre mass stunt over horse jumps. Consisting of varied terrains with undulating gradient, you will face up to multiple obstacles; some natural, some man-made and some designed for horses. But you’re the steed today so over you will go; through the water jumps, over the hurdles and fences and up and down steep banks. And almost all of this in the dark, for which you will need a good head torch! 5km (ish) – Shorter, but it’s not Pony Club With an earlier 1400hr start, this is more pony trek than Grand St Leger. Our 5k course is still a real challenge, with obstacles, mud and water to contend with. But it’s half the distance, so caters to those wanting to have some fun out on the course without wanting to do the full 10k. With the 5km race you will also tackle the Final Furlong, before your final run into the event village and adulation from the gentrified and baying crowds. The fun does not end when the race does. Oh no, there's more in store. Whether you choose to stay locally or in the tented village, we invite you to join us as we make merry in the party tent on Saturday night, where the ales will be flowing and the music will be playing. We will also run the prize-giving at this occasion. There will be spot prizes which anyone could win, as well as the ceremonious crowning of the winners. So stick around, grab some ale and go wild. We will be! Horseplay is Part of the Notorious Night Run Series The Notorious Night Run Series is a collection of high-octane outdoors running events with darkness, challenging terrain and obstacles designed to keep you pushed to the limit. The courses will take you from the Start Line in the hustle and bustle of the event village onto an unforgiving 10km course* interspersed with natural and man made obstacles every kilometre. You may negotiate water, dense vegetation, and rocky terrain throughout your travels on the course, armed for unexpected twists and turns at every corner.
